Μπορεί το «Roma» του Αλφόνσο Κουαρόν να σαρώνει στις υποψηφιότητες και τα βραβεία κάθε είδους ενώσεων κριτικών, όμως και το «The Favourite» δεν πάει πίσω.
Συγκεκριμένα, στις υποψηφιότητες των Critics’ Choice Awards το φιλμ του Γιώργου Λάνθιμου συγκέντρωσε 14 υποψηφιότητες, περισσότερες από κάθε άλλη φετινή ταινία, μεταξύ των οποίων για καλύτερη ταινία, σκηνοθεσία, Α’ γυναικείο ρόλο (Ολίβια Κόλμαν), Β’ γυναικείο ρόλο (Εμα Στόουν και Ρέιτσελ Βάις) και πρωτότυπο σενάριο.
Ακολουθούν το «Black Panther» με 12 υποψηφιότητες, το «First Man» με δέκα, από εννιά υποψηφιότητες απέσπασαν τα «Mary Poppins Returns», «A Star Is Born» και «Vice», ενώ οκτώ συγκέντρωσε το «Roma».

Για τα Critics’ Choice Awards ψηφίζουν τα μέλη του Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) και του Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA), και καθώς πρόκειται για τη μεγαλύτερη ένωση κριτικών κινηματογράφου της βόρειας Αμερικής συνιστούν μια αρκετά ακριβή πρόβλεψη για τις υποψηφιότητες των Οσκαρ.
Η απονομή των Critics’ Choice Awards θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 13 Ιανουαρίου του 2019.
