Ο Τσάντγουικ Μπόουζμαν ήταν με κάποιο τρόπο το πρόσωπο που σημάδεψε την 93η Απονομή των Βραβείων Οσκαρ.
Φαβορί για το Οσκαρ Α' Ανδρικού Ρόλου για το «Ma Rainey's Black Bottom», υπήρξε ο μεγάλος απών μιας «απούσας» χρονιάς για το Χόλιγουντ και μιας τελετής που προσπάθησε να τον κρατήσει ζωντανό περισσότερες από μια φορές: ως δώρο στη gift bag που παίρνουν οι υποψήφιοι, ως pause με σημασία στο βίντεο in memoriam για όσους έφυγαν φέτος, ως τελικό βραβείο της βραδιάς... το οποίο τελικά δόθηκε σε άλλον (Αντονι Χόπκινς) προκαλώντας αμηχανία στους θεατές και οργή στους θαυμαστές του Black Panther.
Τα κοινωνικά δίκτυα πλημμυρίζουν από την ώρα της λήξης της τελετής με οργισμένα μηνύματα υπέρ της μνήμης του Τσάντγουικ Μπόουζμαν και κατά της εκμετάλλευσης του από το θεσμό των Οσκαρ που τελικά δεν τον βράβευσε. Μια τελευταία - έστω και υπερβολικά παθιασμένη - πράξη αγάπης για αυτόν που έφυγε νωρίς.
