Η Ακαδημία ανακοίνωσε την λίστα με τις ταινίες που περνάνε στην επόμενη φάση της ψηφοφορίας σε δέκα κατηγορίες, με την ταινία της Γκρέτα Γκέργουιγκ «Barbie» να έχει το προβάδισμα κάνοντας την εμφάνισή της σε πέντε από αυτές.
Επίσης την εμφάνισή τους στην λίστα κάνουν ταινίες όπως «Οι Δολοφόνοι του Ανθισμένου Φεγγαριού» και το «Society of the Snow» με τέσσερις αναφορές και τα «Οπενχάιμερ», «Poor Things» και «Το Πορφυρό Χρώμα» με τρεις.
Τέλος δυο ντοκιμαντέρ κατάφεραν να περάσουν στις κατηγορίες Καλύτερου Ντοκιμαντέρ και Διεθνούς Ταινίας, τα «20 Days in Mariupol» του Μστισλαβ Τσέρνοβ και «Four Daughters» της Κάουθερ Μπεν Χάνια, ενώ οι Γουές Αντερσον και Πέδρο Αλμοδόβαρ κατάφεραν να μπουν στην λίστα για την Καλύτερη Μικρού Μήκους Ταινία με τα «The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar» και «Strange Way of Life».
Οι υποψηφιότητες των Οσκαρ θα ανακοινωθούν την Τρίτη στις 23 Ιανουαρίου και η τελετή απονομής των βραβείων θα διεξαχθεί στις 10 Μαρτίου.
