Συνεχίζοντας τον επικό απολογισμό του με τις καλύτερες ταινίες της χρονιάς, το Indiewire ζήτησε από 50 περίπου σκηνοθέτες να παραδώσουν τις δικές τους λίστες με τις αγαπημένες τους ταινίες του 2018.
Ανάμεσά τους συναντάμε τον Πέδρο Αλμοδόβαρ, τον Γκιγιέρμο Ντελ Τόρο, τη Λιν Ράμσεϊ και τον Αντριου Χέι, αρκετούς εκπροσώπους του αμερικανικού ανεξάρτητου σινεμά, καθώς και πολυάριθμους ντοκιμαντερίστες. Κι όπως ήταν αναμενόμενο, οι επιλογές τους αποδεικνύονται αρκούντως πολυσυλλεκτικές, συμπεριλαμβάνοντας πέρα από τους συνήθεις υπόπτους (το «Roma» του Αλφόνσο Κουαρόν και το «The Favourite» του Γιώργου Λάνθιμου έχουν κι εδώ την τιμητική τους) αρκετές παραγνωρισμένες δημιουργίες, καθώς και φιλμ που δεν βρήκαν ποτέ διανομή στη χώρα μας.
Πολλοί από τους συμμετέχοντες, επίσης, δεν δίστασαν να κάνουν «ζαβολιές», βρίσκοντας ευκαιρία να προσθέσουν στις λίστες τους τηλεοπτικές σειρές, βιβλία, δίσκους, ακόμη και θεατρικά και εικαστικές εκθέσεις, ή παλιότερες ταινίες που είδαν φέτος για πρώτη φορά.
