The Onassis Cultural Centre launches its monthly collaboration with the film site Flix.gr starting this December 2016 with the world premiere of “The Great Eastern”, the second feature film of the brothers Aris and Lakis Ionas a.k.a. The Callas.
Inspired by the same-titled book written by Andreas Embirikos, “The Great Eastern”- shot exclusively in Hydra Island and with a soundtrack composed by the great Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) & The Callas – tells the story of people from different social classes and ages gathered in a station, waiting for the ocean liner “Great Eastern” for a journey in search of a new utopian society based on friendship, solidarity, mutual respect, love and lust.
After the screening of the film, at the main stage of Onassis Cultural Center on December 16, The Callas along with Lee Ranaldo will present for the first time the live performance they’ve been working together over the past few years, curated by Nadja Argyropoulou.
