Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy and Richard Linklater under the Greek sun

“Before Sunrise” saw them meet for the first time in Vienna, “Before Sunset” saw them reconnect in Paris and now Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy meet again in Messenia, in the southwestern Peloponnese, where Richard Linklater is currently shooting the third part of everyone’s favorite story.

The film doesn’t yet have an official title (although rumor has it, it’s "Before Midnight"), but it picks up where Jesse and Celine left off, after they first met on a train from Budapest to Vienna in 1995 and then run into each other again in Paris in 2004.

This time around, Richard Linklater has chosen Greece to shoot the third sequel of a purely cinematic relationship that looks like it might finally reach some closure – one that will hopefully satisfy the countless fans of this affectionate and oh- so-real love story that didn’t just prove the highlight of Hawk and Delpy’s acting careers and a formidable addition to Linklater’s filmography, but left an indelible mark on a lot of people’s hearts.

Linklater’s company Detour Films is in charge of the production, along with Christos Konstantakopoulos’ Faliro House outfit, which would explain the choice of location as the backdrop for the third meeting of the famous on-screen couple. Besides, places like Pylos, Kardamyli and Koroni, where the shoot is currently taking place, are no less picturesque and romantic than the cobblestone streets of Vienna and the bridges of Paris.

Let’s not forget that the sun-kissed skin, courtesy of long Greek summers, makes every relationship seem full of possibilities and there’s no sunrise or sunset that’s more romantic that the one set to the sound of the crushing waves…
